Lactic acid derivates
« on: January 10, 2013, 02:19:36 PM »
There are three compounds I can think off that could be made when lactic acid splits off water. One is the anhydride, the second is the acyclic ester CH3-CH(OH)-COO-CH(CH3)-COOH and the third is the cyclic ester. I suppose that all of them are produced, but which one is the major product? What conditions will increase the yield of one of these compounds?
