How to determine molecules you are making?

Currently reading The Organic Chem Lab Survival Manual: A Student's Guide to Techniques to teach myself.

But I've been toying with a few synthesis. Mainly ALDEHYDE --> OXIME then OXIME --> AMIDE.

Also been playing with ChemAxon Marvin sketch. Any hints or types?
