Solve: 3.12 g + 0.8 g + 1.033 g = ?

Why is the correct answer 5.0 g. When 0.8 only has one significant figure? Shouldn't it be just 5 g? Someone please explain. I thought leading zeroes weren't supposed to be significant. That is what the rule says in my book, and I just got this problem online for extra practice.
