« on: March 03, 2013, 09:56:52 PM »
I know its an alcohol, but I can't figure out the structure. Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks. I also attached the IR spectra if it can help anyone figure it out.

Is that a pure compound? You've got lots of spinning side bands, the machine needs tuning.

It looks like a mixture of ethyl acetate and isopropanol.

Thanks for responding. I read some more info about this compound, its actually a nmr of an ester and my goal is to identify the alcohol that was used to make this ester, sorry for the confusion. I'm not entirely sure now what the IR spectra is of. The unknown alchol was reacted with acetic acid and Dowex 50W-X8 ion exchange resin.

I think I figured it out, I believe the nmr is of isoamyl acetate, the esterfication was isoamyl alcohol + acetic acide. I believe isoamyl alcohol is my unknown.
