which is the more stabilised decalin?
« on: March 16, 2013, 03:08:50 PM »
i have the trans-9-hydroxy decalin and the cis-9-hydroxy decalin ( not sure about the nomenclature, the OH is on a junction carbon). i have to compare the two..i sketched the conformers of the cis decalin and found which is the more stable, the one with 1e OH 1e alkyl and 1a alkyl. now I'm confused on how to think to see which is the more stable between the trans and the cis conformer mentioned above.
