Why does adding water increase the degree of ionization?
« on: April 15, 2013, 04:08:44 AM »
When 50 mL of water is added to 50 mL of 0.1 mol/L acetic acid the pH increases but why does the degree of ionization also increase?
Thank you!

Don't worry, I get it :)
Since Kp is constant and only affected by temp. DOI must increase when concentration is decreased to keep Kp constant.
