Styrene Stability
« on: June 10, 2013, 12:58:22 PM »
Can anyone tell me if aqueous base such as NaOH or KOH will affect the vinyl group of styrene.

If so, what about something like K2CO3 in organic solvent. Thanks!

I think it'll polymerize pretty fast.

Especially without inhibitors and above 20 C.

Hell, if you are lucky, you might even get an exothermic runaway.
