Why Hexane has a higher boiling point than 2,2-dimethylbutane?
About the surface area and the length of longest chain?

Due to Vanderwaal's foces of attraction which depends on surface area. As branching takes place Vanderwaal's forces decreases

why the branching takes place , the vanderwaal's forces will decrease ?
