charge balance

C23+ and 2C4+ + 2e-

What is the total charge in both the cases?

I think it is 3+ and 6+ respectively.

But in my book it is written that in

C23+ -------> 2C4+ + 2e-

charge is balanced.

Must be a typo, you are right about +3 and +6.
