I'm trying to reduce a cyano group to an amino group but I have a phenol on the same ring. Will using H2/Metal catalyst affect the phenol hydroxyl group adversely?   How about Fe/HCl followed by sodium hydroxide?

Lithium aluminum hydride?

You should be OK. The best catalyst is Raney nickel in ethanol. You need to add ammonia gas to prevent the formation of secondary amines. You do this at normal temp. and pressure. everything else should be ok.
