Making Formate ester
« on: August 22, 2013, 11:51:41 AM »
So I have read of making acetates from bromides using silver acetate.  What I am having trouble with is finding any literature on making formates in this same manner.  Silver formate is not available from sigma aldrich.  Has anyone ever made a formate directly from a bromide?  Has anyone ever made silver formate?

From silver carbonate and formic acid maybe??

Cheers!
If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the precipitate

How about a paper or your input for making an acetate directly from silver acetate?
