What is the pH of demineralised water? how do you increase pH?

Sir it will be around 6.8-6.90 & i will be adding 10% of hcl.
Please advise about buffer would it be necessary or not.

Ok why is the pH of demineralised water normally below 7?

What does a buffer do exactly that would make it useful to you in this situation?

This acidified water is to be used in online analyzer for color in conjunction with standard platinium cobalt solution. Since the ph of supplied acidified water was around 7.4 i think to prepare it in lab & for maintaining that i am thinking to use buffer.

I am familiar with the test but I don't think you are familar with acid / base reactions.

You are working in the analysis of potable water I assume, you may need to check what happens to the pH of a solution when you add acid to it.

Need not to check. i put some typing mistakes i am using water of ph around 7.5-7.6 & making it acidified by using hcl
