How to clean my juicer
« on: September 15, 2013, 04:50:49 PM »
Does anyone have any suggestions for a generally safe substance to use to clean my juicer. It is an Angel 5500 and the parts are stainless steel.
I juice carrots everyday and the tiny holes in the screen get blocked tafter awhile and the grinding gears eventually get coated by some sort of white substance which I think is calcium.  There are many small crevices in the parts where things build up.
I have previously used bleach but it eats the material after awhile.  I tried citric acid and it didn't work at all.  Lemon juice doesn't work.
I currently use denture tablets which work but not as well as I would like.  They are also expensive and take a long time, basically a day.
Is there a substance which will clean the screen and gears in a reasonable time very well?

Thanks

I like the denture cleaning tablets best.  You probably need the bubble pressure to drive out clogs.  I can't think of a stronger household chemical, that safe to use, that will give better results.

White vinegar would be my first try. If it really is calcium buildup, you may have to let it sit for a while.
