Need Help With Question for Ochem Lab
« on: October 13, 2013, 11:06:04 AM »
Hey so I just need some help with a question for my organic chemistry lab. The question is:

A chemist discovers a new anti-cancer drug. However, for the drug to be effective, 45% of the drug must be in its acidic form. If the drug has a pKa of 7.3, at what pH will 45% of the drug be in its acidic form?

Thanks!

You must show that you have attempted the question.
If you don't know how to start, google concepts like pH and pKa... And ask yourself what does "acidic form of a compound" mean..

While you're at it, google the Henderson Hasselbalch equation.

This is actually general chemistry.
