How many types of ions?

Is there only anion and cation or is there a different way of classifying them?

I suppose you could classify ions a 'simple' and 'complex' but I would say that anion and cation is by far the most common and normal way of classifying them.

polyatomic ion vs monoatomic ion

organic ion vs inorganic ion

oxy anion vs non-oxy anion

reducing ion vs oxiding ion

seriously, the list of classification cannot be exhuasted. it depends on how precise you want to be regarding the differences among different ions.
