Access via an android device
« on: November 22, 2013, 12:13:39 AM »
Hi all,

Recently I have been having issues using my Android phone to access the forum. It has only been an issue in the past month or two.

Pretty much every time I open a page it appears for a few seconds then I get a blank white screen. Usually I have to refresh the page 2 or 3 times before it stays permanently. It's not a big deal and certainly does not put me off posting but it is a little frustrating.

I suspect it is my phone but this is the only website which causes this issue.

I was hoping to get some (honest) responses to confirm that my phone is due for an immediate upgrade :)

Kind regards

Archer

All I can tell is that I have not changed anything that could lead to such problems. Or more precisely - I am not aware that I did such changes. I am tinkering with the code now and then, but these are mostly pretty minor things, that should not have such a huge impact. Whenever I do some important upgrades I try to remember to post the information here.

Anyone else having problems?

I have an Android phone (Galaxy S4) and have no problems accessing the forum from it.

I have an Android phone (Galaxy S3) and using Chrome or the Samsung bundled browser I have no problems accessing the forum.

Either you really love Chemical Forums, or you really really really want a new phone.  ;D

Crappy HTC android phone n works fine for me. So can't be your crappy phone and can't be a site issue. :)

Doesn't work properly for me either, although I am having an issue with the way the sidebar is formatted instead.

Any details?

Just checked by myself - works OK on Samsung Galaxy S3.

Even LaTeX is rendered OK (I know it is a problem on some devices).

Yes Tex equations render in a grotesquely huge font on my Android.

Actually it renders much nicer on S3 than on my desktop computer.
