Reaction between HCl and limestone in the presence of CaCl brine
« on: November 24, 2013, 05:25:25 AM »
Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help with this question.

Will the reaction between Calcium Carbonate and Hydrochloric acid be slowed if it is done in the presence of Calcium Chloride brine?

How would the speed compare if it was carried out in the presence of Potassium Chloride brine?

Thanks in advance

Do you have any thoughts so far?  Could you start by sowing us a balanced chemical reaction, and maybe relate that to this question?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Purely from a qualative perspective I thought that the reaction would be slowed by the presence of CaCl in the brine as CaCl is a product of the reaction.
