Positive Test for Acids and Bases

(1/1)

Mikez:
By positive test I mean like placing a glowing splinter (or match) in to a test tube with hydrogen to see if it pops. Now, I don't know what would happen if I were to do the same with an acid and a base. I am writing a lab, but I was there on the day of the experiment so I am stuck. please help.

thanks

arnyk:
One difference between acids and bases is their pH level, which would be an excellent indicator.

Like arnyk said: pH test, litmus paper, universal indicator etc.
