About batch distillation
« on: December 13, 2013, 12:39:07 PM »
Hi everyone, here's a question about batch distillation:

There is a binary system with A (heavy component) and B (light component). The A component concentration is smaller than B. The objetive is retire all A, and for this we measure the initial volume, charge a fixed amount X of component B and distillate until a fixed volume (remember this is batch distillation). We repeat this many times until there is not A component in the mixture.

The question is:

One distillation charging X amount of B is equivalent to N distillations charging X/N amount of B?

Are one more efficient than the other?

Regards
