turbulent flow
« on: January 06, 2014, 03:22:00 PM »
I have a question regarding turbulent flow.

As per my knowledge in chromotography turbulent flow is beneficial in one  way but destructive in another way so which one is more important ?

Turbulent flow has a plug/flat flow profile and it increase the lateral mass transfer and their by reduced the plate height due to resistance to mass transfer in mobile phase. But at the same time turbulent flow cause mixing of  separated band right ?
so why it says that turbulent flow desirable  ?

Thanks for your time on this.
