Calculate potential of electrochemical cell at 25 C
« on: March 11, 2006, 09:13:25 PM »
I need help calculating the potential of this cell:

Pt/FeCl2(aq)(0.015M), FeCl3(aq)(.045M)// AgNO3(aq)(.1M)/Ag

I'm not sure what I need to do here.

Please help, Thank you

Cynthia

I think that you have to use the Nernst equation. Calculate the potential of both cells. After this you can calculate the potential of the whole reaction (I hope that you understood my explenation)

I'm not sure if I use the Fe or the Cl and what the Half reactions are?

Fe3+ + e- -> Fe2+

Ag+ + e- -> Ag
