Introduce CO2 to air sensitive system
« on: February 17, 2014, 03:12:20 AM »
Hi, I want to do the lithiation rnx and add CO2 to quench the reaction to make the carboxylic acid. I have dry ice which is contaminant with some water and don't know how to transfer CO2 to the system? Can anyone give me suggestion? Thank you very much!

Bit of an off the wall suggestion but you could buy canisters of CO2 gas and use a needle through the septum. You can buy them really cheap in bike shops (cycling). Like 3 euro for 3 or so. Can't think of anything else if your institution doesn't have bottled CO2.

If what you have is dry ice only, then pass the stream of sublimate through a drying tower which leads to your reaction.
