what does few ancillaries in green chemistry means exactly? fewer steps or fewer used material?

well…..go grab a dictionary….look up the word ancillary……then get back to us.  Really an obvious question man.

I had done that and searched in internet too but now I doubt which one of the choices that I have mentioned in my first post is right ???
