Using DCC when acid is not very soluble

Can you use DCC to activate a carboxylic acid if the starting acid is not very soluble in organic solvents?  I imagine that as the active ester is formed it will go into solution.

When I have an acid that is not very soluble, I use a lower concentration of the acid than I otherwise would.  Can you provide more details about your starting material and product.
