Hi there, my name is Gudjon and I'm working in Iceland. Recently I had a results from a Icelandic labaratory with this description. I've no idea what this is. It was found in a fuel filter. The particles were soft but strong. And reminded me of cotton.  I would appreciate any ideas.

Sincerely

Mr. Lost

I am afraid this information doesn't tell much. Most likely what you see is some kind of mixture. Presence of C, Si and O could suggest some kind of mixed carbonate/silicate, but I doubt that's the case, as I feel like there is not enough oxygen.

Your description (soft, strong, cotton-like) can suggest some kind of asbestos (there are many of them), or perhaps some artificial equivalent.
