carcinogens
« on: April 23, 2014, 06:29:53 AM »
Here we will talk about substances which can make cancer. They are called carcinogens. This is a topic about carcinogens and how do the scientists discover them in for example clothes, shoes and other things that people usually wear. I have a question about crocs. I have crocs but not original. They are from another company and some people talk that in fake crocs are carcinogens. There was discovery about carcinogens in fake crocs, but have
bad are fake crocs for human. How much carcnogens are there in fake crocs? Is there an enormous mass off carcinogens and how long must person wear them to get cancer? That is starting question in this topic to continoue. And what is a method to found carcinogens in something? Thank you for answers to my questions and I hope you will enjoy writing in this topic and answering on others questions about carcinogens.

I assume you are discussing the foot ware in the above link.

I am also assuming you want to discuss what causes for something to be a Carcinogen

Does DNA attacks carcinogen to be protected? Is that why DNA is after meeting with carcinogen damaged.(because DNA often lose battle). Are so all metals carcinogens. Is there a rule which groups of elements are carcinogens? Please can you explain in short version the text you added to reply. I didn't understand whole text very well.

You cant say all metals are carcinogens. It depends on different factors.. For example Cr(III) is needed as a cofactor for enzymes but Cr(VI) is higly toxic and cancerogenic. Arsene is most of the time toxic but it was shown that its needed in trace amounts  so it also depends on the form ie. As2O3 is toxic however if its bound to some coordinating ligands its not toxic. The biological activity of metals is very complex stuff and cant be easily explaned.
