Chemical Combining (4 types of reactions)
« on: March 23, 2006, 07:46:07 PM »
So this lab we performed 7 experiements to determine if the reaction was single displacement, double displacement, synthesis or decomposition. Here are my answers, can you please check to ensure they are correct:

1) Silver Nitrate + Sodium Iodide ----> Double Displacement

2) Magnesium + Silver Nitrate -----> Single Displacement

3) Hydrochloric Acid + Calcium metal ------> Single Displacement

4) Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate Heated ---------> Decomposition

5) Hydrochloric Acid + Calcium Carbonate --------> Double Displacement

6) Heating Copper Wire in Bunsen Burner ----------> Synthesis

7) Sodium Bromide + Bleach (Chlorine Water) ---------> Double Displacement

5. DD followed by Decomposition
H2CO3 = H2O + CO2

2NaBr + NaOCl + H2O = NaCl + 2NaOH + Br2 Redox Reaction
Or
2NaBr + Cl2 = 2NaCl + Br2 (may be treated as Single Displacement)
