So i have done an experiment and i for the life of me cannot figure out how to calculate the initial rates for the reaction given the following information.

2 I + S2O8 --> I2 + 2So4

and i have the initial concentrations of the I as .0384 and the S2O8 as .0384 as well the initial rate should be 5.03x10-6 but i cannot figure out how to get that...

someone please *delete me*!!

Can you measure concentrations of any of these species?

I think you could calculate the rate of the reaction if you had a time frame somewhere.  You could use the change in concentration of the reaction vs the change in time from the reaction and you can calculate the rate of the reaction.  I think you are missing a few important things from your problem.  Is there an order or reaction that you know?
