How Can BF3 exist if it has no octet filled?

Hi I'm learning about VSPER and LEWIS structure. I was just wondering how BF3 can exist since the central B atom only has valence electrons, and does not reach octet when making 3 single bonds with F? Is it more unstable because of that?

It is existing, but it like to form BF4- easily to fullfil the octett law.

In the terminology of Lewis acids and bases, what is BF3?
