Chemistry Molarity

Given 5.00 ml of 14.8 M NH3, what will be the final volume diluted with water to give 1.00M NH3.
Answer 74.0 ml

my solution.

M= Mass given / Mass of solute X volume

finding mass of NH3 from moles = 14.8 X 17 = 251.6 , converting volume from ml to L = 0.005
14.8 = 251.6 / 17 X Volume = 1 answer .

if i do

1M = 251.6 / 17 X Volulme = 14.8 ,

what should i do , how to get the proper answer . :/ thanks.

In short use.....for any case of dilution..

M1×V1 = M2×V2

Put M1 = 14.8 M
        V1 = 5 ml
        M2= ?
         V2 = 74 ml

Where M = molarity
             V = Volume of solution

*Note = V denotes the total volume of the solution ,when you will asked for what is final volume then your answer will be V2 and sometimes you will be asked for how huch water you have to mix , then just do V2-V1

oh yes, bro , i remember i saw that method months ago in my MCAT book , but i don't know why i forget everything i memorize in few days :/ , btw thanks

Listen bro....
I have few suggestions for you....
1. Yaar science samjhne ki cheez hai so don't try to memorize it.,...
2. If you chosen sumthing , then try to do your best ..go back when u found that there is no way ahead from this point ,but there is always someways
 
3.  Manytimes we have to face failure.….So dont panic ..instead of panicking...keep trying and learning...

So whatever the result of MCAT ....forget about that .
 I wish you don't face failure , and if you do....then just do a new beginning..

If you want to reappear in MCAT , so my suggestion is that read  some reliable books not such garbage of numericals .first read theory from a good book ...untill you are able to visualise..nd.use competitive books only for practicing of numericals. And be curious , i think u are :)
