I don't know what level you teach but I know of a fun high school level lab.  It is called finding the halflife of candium.  You give the studentents bags of M&Ms and you have them shake it then dump the M&Ms on a paper towel.  They can then eat the ones that have the "M" side up.  They repeat this until all of the M&Ms are gone.  They will record the number of half lives (i.e.-number of trials)and how many M&Ms are left over.  Make sure that they get the initial amount (at 0 half lives.  They can then graph the results to show the relationship between time and amount of substance.  Hope this helps ;)

Good idea, this also works with coins (heads and tails)

But M&M's are edible.

If you have the means to do it, then it may be a good way to show radiation. This is more of a demonstration than a lab though.

Yes I agree it would be much more delicious with M&M's :) We do the coin one simply because food and drink is prohibited in our labs etc. :P

I suggest going on a field trip to the nearest picnic table to do this lab with M&Ms.
