sucrose - reducing?
« on: March 29, 2006, 07:17:44 PM »
Hello,

Is sucrose a reducing sugar?  (i.e. Does it give a positive test with Fehling's and Tollens's reagents?)

Sucrose is not a reducing sugar because the glycosidic linkage (alpha1-->beta2) links the two anomeric carbons.
