Radioactivity question
« on: November 21, 2014, 12:42:45 PM »
Hi everyone,

If I have a list of data in the form of counts per minute, what does this need to be converted into. Im specificaly trying to find the KD between tritiated adrenaline and GTP but im stuck on the conversions.

I have figures for specific activity and the percentage efficiency but that is it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

In general, for this type of analysis, there is no direct conversion from counts per minute and concentration of radioactive substance.  Instead, one would usually plot the data (e.g. counts per min bound by the protein vs concentration of free ligand) and fit that data to a curve in order to extract the Kd.  Without knowing more details about the specific experiment performed or the data, its hard to provide more guidance.
