When a protein is heated it gets denatured. When it is cooled it regains its conformation but there is loss of protein function. I want to know that if a protein regains its conformation on cooling, then why does it lose its function.

could it be because the heat made it loose its functioning ablilites :)

As long as the active site has the same conformation as before it should still work?

there's a special protein in our body that can repair denatured proteins.
