Cr(III) electronic transitions
« on: December 29, 2014, 03:07:56 AM »
Spin-allowed transitions for d3 ions are the following: 4A2g :rarrow: 4T2g (F), 4A2g :rarrow: 4T1g (F), 4A2g :rarrow: 4T1g (P). Then we have the 4A2g :rarrow: 2Eg spin-forbidden transition. My questions are:
1. What is the difference between 4T2g (F) and 4T1g (F) states and why are their energies different?
2. What electron configuration corresponds to 2Eg? What is the distribution of electrons in t2g and eg orbitals in this state?
