Kinetics of the Permanganate-IP Reaction Help
« on: February 10, 2015, 03:00:37 PM »
Calculate the KMnO4 concentration of the solution in the cuvette prepared in step 1 of the experimental procedure.
Step 1: Pipet 5.00ml of 1.00M H2SO4 and 1.00ml of the stock 2.00E-3M KMnO4 provided into a clean test tube.

I know it is a dilution problem, but I do not know how to set this up since it only gives me one volume for the KMnO4 which is what I am supposed to be solving for.

Where's the problem? You have a permanganate solution of known concentration. You take 1 ml of this and add it to 5 ml sulphuric acid. What is the volume now? What is the dilution factor? What is the new concentration?
