Help with reaction
« on: February 15, 2015, 08:44:24 AM »
PCl3 + 3EtOH ---- (t,PhNEt2,petrolether) :rarrow: P(OEt)3
1.What is the mechanism of reaktion?
solution of diethylaniline hydrochloride
P3+ + EtO
product: P(OEt)3

2.Why in this reaction we use PhNEt2? Because at first it make solution of diethylaniline hydrochloride and then react?

3.What is the product of this reaction without PhNEt2?
I am not sure, but I think it is ethyl chloride and diethyl hydrogen phosphite

4. Is it diffrent with PrOH? Does PrOH react PCl3 + 3 PrOH → Pr2PH=O + PrCl + 2HCl?
What is the product at the first step? Is it Pr2PH=O?
Can you help me please?  :)

Normally PCl3 is a supplier to substitute OH to Cl. Also it means you get in this example Chlorine ethan and phosphorous acid H3PO3. By adding the Aniline compound the reaction is changed to form the ester.
