Resorcinol oxidation?
« on: March 04, 2015, 02:58:47 PM »
Is it possible for resorcinol to oxidize in aqueous solution with the use of oxidizing agents?

I suspect that it's less favorable compared to hydroquinone and catechol due to the formation of an unstable semiquinone form, but would it still occur in any amounts? Is there a way to track possible oxidation products via UV-Vis or anything in a manner similar to tracking p-benzoquinone peak for hydroquinone oxidation?
