Buffer solutions
« on: April 06, 2015, 01:43:22 AM »
Hi there,

I'm just going through some examples worked through by my instructor and I'm having trouble understanding one point of the question.

Why is x divided by 0.250, and why is (0.0635-x) being divided by 0.250 as well?

I would appreciate any help, thank you.

No idea, it doesn't follow form the question. Also the final answer is wrong, it should be 31.8 mL, not 318 mL.

In general 0.250 looks like a volume, but it is not the volume given in the problem. Plus, it cancels out, so it doesn't matter. But as there is a trivial math error in the final answer, I don't see why there can't be a trivial mistake in the formula used.
