Practice Questions - ketone
« on: April 23, 2015, 06:01:21 AM »
Could somebody help me with these two questions? I know that the first one should start with the -OH attacking the carbon, but I don't know what to do next. As for the second one, I'm completely lost.

Sorry that I have to ask these questions when they're pretty simple  :-[

Google ester hydrolysis and ketal formation ( or acetal formation)
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

Both reactions are covered in the carbonyls chapter of any organic chemistry textbook.
