Need help on integrated rate law
« on: April 17, 2006, 07:33:11 AM »
Hi,

please advise me on the computation for integrated rate law for this reaction :

A + B ---> product

we start from -d[A]/dt = k[A]

I ended up with ln([A]/[A]oo) = - kt
but I think there is something wrong in my integration. Please help. Thanks !

The correct integrated form is:

1/(°-[A]°) * ln (*[A]°)/([A]*°)  = kt

Let [A] = [A]o - x and = o - x,

d[A]/dt = -k([A]o - x)(o - x)

d[A]/dt = -dx/dt

dx/dt = k([A]o - x)(o - x)

Int. dx/([A]o - x)(o - x) = Int. kdt
