Reactivity, metals
« on: April 17, 2006, 08:52:17 PM »
Hi folks,
Can anyone help me with this question?

When magnesium is placed into zinc chloride solution.  What are the products made?  Explain why.  I would have thought magnesium would displace zinc but apparently that's not the case.  The answer i am told is magnesium oxide and hydrogen.   Is that right?

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
