I am working on a synthesis reaction of a indole related compound.  The reaction mixture needs to be gradually heated (2 degrees/min) to 220 degrees and then refluxed for 23 hours.  My lab has a GlasCol RampTrol temp controller that uses a thermocouple to measure temperature.  Would situating the thermocouple between the flask and heating mantle work well enough to get the gradual heating required or would I need a different type of measuring device?
