Hydrated Salt with excess water.
« on: April 23, 2006, 12:25:04 PM »
Here's a question my friend and I need to figure out also.
When a hydrated salt (e.i. copper sulphate pentahydrate) is added in water.
Then what will occur?
And if there's another substance withing the water, what would occur if you heat the mixture?

A salt that is fully hydrated cannot be hydrated any more, but if the salt is soluble (as yours is) it will dissolve

The water will cool down, as you still need energy to break the ionic net.

hu? That would strongly depend on the "other substance".
