Structure ID from spectra
« on: October 22, 2015, 01:54:55 PM »
Hey guys, I'm awful at these kind of problems so I'm wondering if anyone here can guide me towards working to the final structure here. I've attached the data as a png file.

I know from looking at the NMR data that the septet suggests an isopropyl group. IR also shows that it's an amide. Degree of unsaturation is 6 but there can't be an aromatic ring because the only signal at 7ppm is a triplet. I reckon the iPr group is attached to the nitrogen but this is as far as I can go.

I'm completely LOST after that.

Thanks for any advice/guidance you can give  :)

I also know from the proton coupled 13C that we have:

8 x CH
3 x qC
5 x CH3
1 x CH2

Aromatic protons can fall in the 6ppm range if activated sufficiently...
When in doubt, avoid the Stille coupling.
