glass etching

(1/1)

kirbykaze:
why isn't glass transparent after it is etched with NH4HF2 and NaHF2?  It would be appreciated if you included a chemical formula, because I can't seem to find any products that would not simply be washed away after the reaction is complete.  As the only products I can find are all soluble in water. if you need proof that this has been attempted read the following work I have done so far... also if you find any problems with my equations please inform me.
6NaHF2+5SiO2=H20+3Na2SiO3+2H2SiF6

6NaHF2=6NaF+6HF

6NaF+6H20=6NaOH+6HF

12HF+3SiO2+2H2O=6H20+2H2SiF6+SiO2

6NaOH+3SiO2=3Na2SiO3+3H2O

12NH4HF2+4SiO2=8H2O+4H2SiF6+12NH3+
12NH4HF2=12NH4F+12HF

12NH4F=12NH3+12HF

24HF+6SiO2=8H20+4H2SiF6+12NH3+2SiO2

12NH4HF2+6NaHF2+9SiO2+=9H2O+3Na2SiO3+6(NH4)2SiF6b]

12NH4HF2+6NaHF2+9SiO2=9H20+3Na2SiO3+12NH3+6H2SiF6

12NH3+6H2SiF6=6(NH4)2SiF6
