Spray On Copper/Copper alloys and Nickel/Cobalt/Chromium
« on: October 22, 2015, 03:37:21 PM »
I´ve been Extensively researching(and Applying it) Spray On Chrome(Spray Silver) for years now(since 2009) I´ve been getting better and better over the years, I have the process down to a T, this has lead me to know both the goods and the bads of the process, . The Bads= Silver is Rather expensive(its a precious metal after all) and Tarnishes without top coat protection(2-2.5 Mohs scale)

after expending the better half of the year extensively researching methods of electroless plating/depositing of other harder metals on silver, now I believe that Copper/Nickel/Cobalt/Chromium is possible(ontop of silver or without Silver, this has been proven successfully by myself) on a Spray On technique, I will be testing Nickel/Cobalt and even Chromium III if all goes well...

the process(with Silver)

*Normal Spray On Silver process(Activate surface with Stanous Chloride, Spray On Silver, dont need to be a full Silver coat, just a Flash silver as to reduce costs)

*while the silvered piece is wet(Never allow it to dry this will stop Silver ionic activating power) Apply the Spray on Copper solution(in one cartridge containing aqueous copper ammine complex and on the other cartridge a reducing agent of Dextrose/Formaline) ionic silver will attract the copper particles to itself and will give us a Copper Mirror surface which is very strong,

I have done the same without using Silver stricke coat first, but a combination of Stanous chloride/Palladium sensitizer mixture(5g of SnCl2 and 0.1 g of PdCl2, 10cc of HCl per 1L of Di Watter) both process result in Copper Mirrors,

I will try the same with Nickel/Cobalt ammine Complex ions and their reducers, Maybe even Chromium III if I get a hold of it...

Whish me Luck...
