I wouldn't be surprised.  I dont think anything has a vapour pressure of zero, so there's bound to be some (no metter how little) in the air around the experiment.

And research shows that certain heavy metals bioaccumulate in the eyes.  The following article talks about lead and cadmium in particular:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=15860295&dopt=Abstract

And this article about "The effect of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, and manganese) on the function of the visual system"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=10204149&dopt=Abstract

Is there any about external eye problem?
(e.g. the muscles which hold the eyes in position and control eye movement)

And, if you have a polish translator handy...you can read this article about "The effect of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, and manganese) on the function of the visual system"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=10204149&dopt=Abstract

You don't need a translator to read that

So while it is not a thing to ignore, it is also not a thing to worry about too much.
