Detection of Zn in water

I am working in a phytorremediation(cleaning toxics with plants) project, in which I'm using the tomato plant to clean Zn contaminated water. I don't how to keep track of the quantity  of Zinc to see if it decreases or raises in the sample of water. Can someone help me?

Method will depend on the range of concentrations of Zn present. Do you have any idea what concentrations of zinc you will have to measure? What kind of equipment do you have access to?

I am working with small amounts of Zn. I want a good project without spending a lot of money.

Small amounts - like 1% or 1 ppb?
