Alkaloid Question

If I'm doing any type of plant alkaloid extraction and I have the alkaloids in acidic solution, will the concentration of the alkaloids increase if I boil the mixture or will they evaporate? My problem is that I have to use so much solution to soak them in, but it's not a reasonable volume of liquid to use in my sep funnel for separations. Therefore, I'm assuming I can boil the mixture down to a workable volume and all of the alkaloids will remain?

In acidic conditions, the nitrogen ought to be protonated, so the alkaloid will be in an ionic form.
This ought to be very unwilling to evaporate.  If you take the proton away, the material should be more volatile.
